Walvis Bay: Marine Big 5 Luxury Catamaran Tour
Sail out on a catamaran and try to spot the ocean’s “Big 5”: whales, dolphins, sunfish, leatherback turtles and seals. Enjoy a relaxing morning at sea including refreshments and snacks.
Free cancellation on most bookings · Bookings handled by GetYourGuide

Step aboard for a premium oceanic expedition where the rugged Namibian desert meets the vibrant Atlantic. This isn't just a catamaran ride; it’s a front-row seat to one of the most diverse marine ecosystems on the planet. From the massive breaches of Humpback whales to the quirky charm of the sunfish, everything may be possible - your morning at sea is designed to be as exhilarating as it is relaxing. Your Journey at a Glance Your adventure begins at the Walvis Bay Waterfront with a prompt check-in at 8:30 am. As we depart the jetty between 8:45 and 9:00 am, the crisp ocean air and a warm cup of hot coffee or tea set the mood for the day. Our route takes us past thriving local oyster farms as we approach the iconic Pelican Point. Here, you’ll witness the historic lighthouse standing guard over a colony of 60,000 resident Cape Fur Seals—a noisy, playful, and unforgettable spectacle of nature. Meet Namibia’s Marine "Big Five" As we round the point and head into the open sea, keep your cameras ready for the stars of the show: The Giants of the Deep: From July to November, we frequently encounter Humpback Whales. If luck is on our side, we may even spot rare visitors like the Southern Right Whale. The Acrobatics of Dolphins: Walvis Bay is a playground for three species. Watch Common Bottlenose Dolphins surf our bow, or marvel at the tiny, social Heaviside’s Dolphins as they perform their signature cartwheels. You might also spot the Dusky Dolphin, known for world-class speed displays. The Bizarre Sunfish: One of our most popular sightings, the Sunfish looks like a prehistoric fish head with a tail. These gentle giants can weigh up to 1,000 kg and are a true wonder to behold. The Leatherback Turtle: Keep a sharp eye out for the world’s largest turtle. Lacking a hard shell and covered in leathery skin, these incredible voyagers travel thousands of kilometers to reach these waters. A "Wreck" of Seabirds: Throughout the trip, we are joined by Kelp Gulls, Pelicans, and Cape Cormorants. Don't be surprised if a pelican hitches a ride on the catamaran to get a closer look at you! A World-Class Culinary Finale As we cruise back through the bay, passing impressive international ships and oil rigs, the adventure transitions into a celebration of local flavors. We believe a safari should be savory, so we serve a gourmet light lunch featuring: Fresh Namibian Oysters: World-renowned for their quality and exceptional taste. Crisp Sparkling Wine: Perfectly paired for a mid-morning toast. Savoury Snacks & Sweet Pastries: A curated selection to satisfy every craving. Refreshments: Ice-cold Namibian beer and a variety of soft drinks. We return to the Waterfront at around 12h30.
